Group Learning Pod

Two Girls Looking At Items Through A Magnifying Glass

Our Focus

Our secular group learning pod offers a comprehensive educational experience for children aged 5–11. Operating Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the program focuses on core subjects, including math, reading, and writing. Children rotate through these classes each day, ensuring balanced academic growth.

For English Language Arts, we follow the UFLI curriculum (University of Florida Literacy Institute). This evidence-based approach helps children build strong foundations in reading and spelling, using clear, structured lessons that support all levels of learners. Families can also access FREE PARENT RESOURCES from UFLI to continue supporting literacy skills at home.

Children enrolled in the Learning Pod can enhance their week by adding Monday STEAM Enrichment! This hands-on program encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through engaging STEAM challenges and activities.

A 40-minute lunch and recess period is built into the schedule, giving children time to socialize and enjoy physical activity. Social-emotional learning is also a core part of our program, guided by Leader in Me and the 8 habits of happy and healthy children.

This year, we’re also introducing a Financial Literacy program. Students earn “school money” by showing leadership, kindness, responsibility, and teamwork. On Thursdays, they can spend their earnings in our student-run school store—practicing real-life skills like budgeting, saving, and making thoughtful choices.

Following a traditional school calendar, our pod operates from September to May, with breaks that align with public schools, making it an ideal fit for families seeking an alternative learning group.

With small class sizes—capped at 10 children per group—learners receive individualized attention based on their academic level and age, ensuring they are challenged and supported in all areas. Our goal is to meet students where they are and help them excel.

Frequency Asked Questions

What is a learning pod?

A learning pod is a group of children who meet a few times a week and work on core and elective education subjects. Our pod is taught by individuals with educational backgrounds, where we work alongside parents to to meet the needs of each individual.

No, this is a drop off program. We have many opportunities for parent involvement throughout the school year.

Our day begins at 9:30 am with group learning, where children rotate between teachers focusing on math, phonics/reading, and writing. These rotations run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, with children grouped according to their academic abilities. During this time, we focus on building key skills such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, writing, and math, tailored to each individuals level to foster growth in both English Language Arts and mathematics.

From 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, children break for a whole group lunch and recess, providing time for social interaction and movement.

In the afternoon, our learning shifts to social studies or science units, which rotate on a monthly basis, allowing children to explore various topics throughout the year. Additionally, we implement the Leader in Me program, where children engage in activities to learn and practice the 7 habits of healthy kids, fostering leadership and personal development.

The day concludes with dismissal at 1:30 pm.

We are strictly a secular group. We do not teach any religion in our program.

We use the UFLI Foundations program, a structured literacy curriculum developed by the University of Florida Literacy Institute. It emphasizes systematic phonics instruction, helping children build strong skills in decoding, spelling, and reading fluency. UFLI is backed by research and designed to support learners of all abilities, making it especially effective in small-group settings like ours.

This year, we’ve introduced a Financial Literacy program to help students build practical life skills in a fun, age-appropriate way. Children earn “school money” throughout the week by demonstrating kindness, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. On Thursdays, they get the chance to shop in our student-run school store, where they practice budgeting, saving, and making thoughtful choices.

Students also take turns helping run the store—managing transactions, handling money, and assisting peers—which gives them hands-on experience in financial responsibility and customer service. The program encourages decision-making, delayed gratification, and an early understanding of how money works in everyday life.

What Families Say

We have had the BEST experience at CLL. The amazing teachers provide Individualized collaborative learning that truly allows ALL children (neurotypical & neurodiverse-I have both there 💗) to thrive. The (optional) summer camp facilitates continuity and is fun and educational. My kids love going to school/camp—I am one blessed parent—THANK YOU CLL —you rock!

CLL has been one of the single best decisions we have made for our daughter. The teachers and students are amazing! Before my daughter attended Connections Learning Lab she went to a school for gifted children and experienced a lot of bullying. We pulled her and enrolled her in Connections Learning Lab. Our experience has been like night and day!

Finding Connections Learning Lab has been a game-changer for our family. We've not only found a wonderful school program, but my kids have a community of friends. We can't wait to continue with Connections Learning Lab throughout elementary school!
